With the State Government announcing applications for 12-month training for pharmacists to take on a range of treatments usually reserved for doctors, Dr Hoath said there was a risk of patients falling between the cracks.

Vaccination is highly effective for flu and with the State experiencing one of its worst flu seasons, Dr Hoath said it’s one of the ways to manage our stretched hospital resources before patients head to the emergency department.

The top-performing Facebook post for the June-July period showed the new AMA (WA) leadership team after the annual general meeting. Dr Kyle Hoath was elected President for a two-year term, with Vice Presidents Dr Natalie Ferrington and Dr Andrew P’ng. This post had a reach of 4,451, with 7,113 views, 70 interactions and 67 clicks.

The second most popular post followed the Government’s State Budget, with then President Dr Michael Page supported by
then Vice President Dr Hoath. It reached 3,543 people, with 6,190 views, 28 interactions, and 17 likes.

Our best-performing LinkedIn post featured AMA (WA) President Dr Kyle Hoath reacting to the decision by Ramsay Health to close two of its Perth psychology clinics, and 17 of 20 in Australia. Dr Hoath, a psychiatrist, reached 2,889 people with his advocacy, generating 196 clicks and 18 likes.

The second most engaged post was about shadow health minister Libby Mettam’s comments on Bunbury Regional Hospital, with further response from Dr Hoath, which reached 1,357 people and delivered strong interaction, with 96 clicks and 18 likes.
