The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is pleased to see significant improvements in the 2025 AMA (WA) HHC survey results and are encouraged by the increased participation of the CAHS DiTs.
DiT training and wellbeing is a key priority for CAHS. Their constructive and honest feedback will enable CAHS to shape a positive and responsive workplace.
The Junior Medical Officer (JMO) Action Plan will address key DiT priorities that enhance the working and learning environment, thereby fostering a positive workplace culture. Notable improvements include the establishment of Doctors’ HQ, providing a central resource point, and release of the Doctors’ Support Guide – providing resources to support DiTs’ mental and physical wellbeing.
The HHC survey highlighted encouraging results including 95% of CAHS DiTs reporting they feel safe at work and 78% not having experienced bullying or discrimination.
CAHS is now focused on the DiTs who report experiencing bullying or having witnessed bullying or discrimination in the workplace, which is unacceptable. CAHS is committed to creating a culture of respect and safety, and encouraging our DiTs to report unacceptable behaviours. An anonymous feedback mechanism has been implemented to encourage reporting and facilitate appropriate interventions.
CAHS recognises the need to ensure that our DiTs can access in-person and online teaching throughout all stages of training and continue to work with them to support their learning needs and professional development. In 2025 the Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) team are focused on enhancing registrar-level teaching.
CAHS extends its appreciation to our DiTs who participated in the HHC survey and contributed to the results. CAHS will continue to listen, engage, and prioritise staff wellbeing. We reaffirm our commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive and professionally enriching environment – one where all staff are supported in their roles and empowered to thrive.
